How We View Disability: A Brief Timeline In-Person
Join Laura Harris, Distance and Open Education Librarian at SUNY Oswego's Penfield Library to hear her provide an overview of her research on models of disability.
Session Description:
A model of disability is essentially a framework for describing how disability is viewed by society as a whole. In this session, we will provide a brief overview of the major models of disability. We will also discuss how these models of disability have influenced and reinforced policies and standards. The session will conclude with a discussion of a diversity-informed model of disability and how this can be applied in libraries and higher education.
