Spotlight on SUNY Libraries: Collection Inventory Online

*A Zoom link will be sent after you register.*

Join librarians from University at Albany and Binghamton University for the next Spotlight on SUNY Libraries. The Spotlight series showcases the great work happening in SUNY libraries and fosters a network of collaboration among SUNY librarians and library staff.

Presentation Title: Navigating the Stacks: Best Practices for Inventorying the Collection

Description: Inventorying is a crucial component of collection management – facilitating resource discovery, optimizing space utilization, and aiding in collection development decisions. In this month’s Spotlight, learn how two large SUNY campus libraries inventory their collections.  Presenters will share best practices and examples from their libraries, including what hardware they use, how they scan physical items, and running jobs through Alma. Following the presentation, there will be time for questions and conversation about collection inventory – please bring your own challenges and solutions to share.

About the Presenters: Jeff Goldstein is the Access Services Technology and Operations Coordinator at the University at Albany Libraries. David Schuster is the Senior Director for Library Technology and Digital Strategies at Binghamton University Libraries.

Spotlight on SUNY Libraries is designed to be an informal conversation about specific topics related to SUNY libraries.  After a presentation from our SUNY colleagues, there will be time to ask questions, chat, and discuss.  The session will be recorded for those who cannot attend, and associated documents and resources will be shared out.
